I think it must be a widely overlooked fact that the United States was one of the major trading partners of the Roman Empire. In fact, I think the US Embassy is still located in Rome. This close association for so many years is why a typically Roman expression is common within US social media: bada bing, bada boom.
Having been a Brother Dave fanatic from the first time he took a drag off that cigarette (had ALL his albums, went to his shows, wore the tee shirts [at that time, there wasn't even such a thing,] and could do ever monologue he had ever done,) I can't help but correct you, Colonel, on Brother Dave's quote: "God musta loved the poor folks 'cause He made so many of 'em."
In this case, Brother Dave most assuredly would have used IDIOTS, though!
It's a cropped image of a screen shot I made while I was bringing my computer up on the morning of the 5th. It just jumped out at me and I hit the 'Print Screen' key before it went to another screen.
There must be a lot of fans of Brother Dave still out there, Mr AOW -- right up there with Jimmy Buffet and the Parrotheads! (Well, maybe not quit the magnitude of Jimmy Buffet... BUT PRETTY CLOSE!)
Is there really any doubt that Voter Registration needs a major overhaul?
ReplyDeleteChecking for any signs of brain activity would help a lot, too.

DeleteThe Twitter Feed tends proves that Brother Dave Gardner was right all along: God loves idiots, which is why he made so many of them.

Brother Dave Gardner? Love him!
ReplyDeleteRemember "The Country Cow and the City Cow" and "The Preacher and the Drunk"?
...and the motorcycle story and the difference between Northern Baptist and Southern Baptist and James Lewis and the wheelbarrow...
DeleteWikipedia's entry about Brother Dave Gardner. There seems to be a reissue of some of his albums!
ReplyDeleteI could kick myself! I had every one of his albums and they eventually got tossed because my turntable got broke/lost/stolen.
DeleteAAARRGHHH!
Brother Dave was great! I saw him perform live way back when at the Houston Music Theatre. One of the best shows I have ever been to!
