Just Business As Usual At The White House.

The article below is from Maggie’s Notebook. All the links indicated are in her original posting.

It just gets deeper and deeper:
If you haven’t gotten a stomach full of the Obimbo brothers by now, Maggie has an excellent follow-up story about the ties both of them have to (guess what?!) the Moslem Brotherhood and the billions of U.S. dollars being used in the hoped-for purchase of a 40% portion Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula for the Moslem Brotherhood’s sister group, Hamas.

Just business as usual for America.

Muslim or Moslem?

You might say that this posting is dedicated to my Commandant of the Marine Corps, Colonel Mustang.

In all of the Colonel's writings, when writing about Islam (or whatever 'it' is connected to, he always spelled whatever 'it' is as 'Moslem.' With that in mind, I decided to pose the question to Colonel Mustang: "Colonel, I've been meaning to ask you why do you use 'Moslem' as opposed to 'Muslim?'"

Then, rather than admit my stupidity to the Colonel (of which he is VERY MUCH aware,) I thought that I'd look it up and see if I could find the reason. What I discovered was velly in-ter-resting (note that I used 'velly in-ter-resting' in a sort of German dialect because I don't know how to do it in Moslem/Muslim/Islam/Whatever-The-Hell.)

You can find more than you ever wanted to know here. The following is my 'Git 'er done' version:

When Baby Boomers were children it was Moslem. The American Heritage Dictionary (1992) noted, "Moslem is the form predominantly preferred in journalism and popular usage. Muslim is preferred by scholars and by English-speaking adherents of Islam." No more. Now, almost everybody uses Muslim.

Lest we forget...

...the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. Whereas for most English speakers, the two words are synonymous in meaning, the Arabic roots of the two words are very different. A Muslim in Arabic means 'one who gives himself to God,' and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means 'one who is evil and unjust' ...

Journalists switched to Muslim from Moslem in recent years under pressure from Islamic groups. ...

So, here's the deal, Colonel... let me go on thinking that you use 'Moslem' just to piss the shit outta the ragheads and not because you're a Baby Boomer or a PC'er!

From now on, the sonsabitches will be known as MOSLEMS to me!
