Those of us who've worn the uniform (at least, most of us,) think of those who've made the ultimate sacrifice, and their families, on an almost daily basis. Memorial Day is everyday for us, AOW.
Just some of the many things that degrade our mortally wounded combat heroes: businesses and their Memorial Day Sales, a day off from all our 'trudges' to barbecue and play horseshoes, . . .
I've just had a news crawl across my iPad: "Watch LIVE as President Obama lays wreath at Tomb of the Unknown Solider" -- that HAS TO BE the ultimate degradation. Just go play your usual round of golf, Bathhouse, and leave our fallen to rest in peace.
PS: I am now proudly carrying my concealed permit weapon in my cute wallet, while wearing bright colored tennis shoes. Be afraid of a little old lady in tennis shoes, be very afraid.
I keep trying to go to your post, WHT, but my computer keeps telling me that you've got a virus or something! It didn't start up until the 31st at some point.
Amen!
ReplyDeleteIt is heartbreaking that so many Americans rarely think of the fallen and their families.

I don't watch Obama place that wreath. My blood pressure is too high as it is!
DeleteJust the thought of it makes the blood vessels in my head start to explode, AOW.
DeleteWith that you have said it all. Thanks, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAll we can do is try to live for them and to take care of their loved ones in anyway that we can, JB. That's the least we can do.
DeleteNice tribute, Mac.

Three rounds, center mass. Dead men tell no tales.
DeleteMake that a double tap. Anything more than that and the court's gonna say it was overkill and you'll probably be in the hurt locker.
DeleteJust saying.
Thank you for your service, Marine. Semper Fidelis!
